Durham Gets Only Garage Store in Triangle
Garage, a Canada-based women’s clothing store, opens this week at The Streets at Southpoint in South Durham. The company has more than 100 locations across the United States, but the Southpoint shop currently will be the only Garage store in the Triangle. Garage is a subsidiary of Groupe Dynamite, which also owns and operates another woman’s clothing store called Dynamite.

Raleigh-based Pendo announced the acquisition Wednesday of Zelta AI, a New York City-based startup that automates collection and analysis of customer feedback. Pendo has been rapidly adding AI features and products in the last 12 months, including Pendo Listen, a new product in the Pendo One platform that accelerates product discovery so companies can build and launch successful products faster.
Former Stanley Cup Champion Retires and Number Will Be Too
Eric Staal, a former Stanley Cup Champion, has signed a one-day contract to retire with the Carolina Hurricanes. That’s the team he won the Cup with in 2006. Staal spent ten and a half seasons with the Hurricanes. The centre made his NHL debut in the 2003-04 season. However, the year following the lockout, in 2005-06, Staal established himself as a top-flight NHLer. Staal scored 45 goals in the regular season that year. Furthermore, Staal led the league in assists and points in the playoffs. He also set a franchise record playoff point streak during that run, lasting from Game 2 of the Eastern Conference First Round through Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final. The Hurricanes won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history that season.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina’s Republican-led House quickly overrode three of Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s vetoes on Wednesday. The House votes, largely along party lines, sent the overrides to the Senate, which does not meet this week. Veto overrides require supermajorities from both legislative chambers to become law. Since gaining supermajorities last year, GOP lawmakers have blocked all of Cooper’s vetoes.

Wake County opens new free dental clinic for uninsured children in Zebulon
Wake County opened a new no-cost dental clinic for uninsured children.This "floss-cutting" happened at the Wake County Eastern Regional Center in Zebulon on Wednesday. The opening is part of the Regional Smiles program- which provides preventative dental care for children and young adults up to 20 years old.The program is an expansion of the Smiles at Sunnybrook program and offers free dental exams, teeth cleanings, X-rays, and fluoride applications."This particular grant is geared to what about our uninsured kids in the area, which is going to be a great resource for our families out here in the eastern part of the county. And we are just so excited to be able to provide a service, such a valuable service to the community," said Darryl Blevins, director of Eastern Wake Regional Center.The new clinic will offer monthly dental appointments.Since October 2017, the program has served more than 6,200 children in the community.For more information click here.
