Good morning everyone. We have some really nice weather over the next 5 days in the Northeast aside from a few instability showers today as the sun works the atmosphere combined with cool air aloft. Other than that, we are very quiet and relatively comfortable temperature-wise throughout the entire workweek.

In other areas, heavy showers and storms leftover from last night's action continue to impact parts of Missouri, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. We'll watch most of that activity fizzle out and weaken as the day goes on, but we'll watch to see if anything comes of the remnants as far as PM severe weather.

Our focus today is out in Kansas and Nebraska again as more energy coming out of Colorado could help spark off some severe weather across the area. At minimum, we'll see heavy thunderstorms develop tonight into tomorrow morning and move across the region before fizzling out. However, there is a chance that some of these storms could reach severe limits. Be on the lookout for locally damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the chance of an isolated tornado.

In the tropics, tropical depression #5 will eventually become Tropical Storm, then Hurricane Ernesto. The EURO model has shifted to the GFS, and both agree that Ernesto stays away from the East Coast, but could impact Puerto Rico, then Bermuda by the weekend. Look for some higher surf and rip currents along parts of the East Coast as Ernesto passes well out to sea.

Here is your local NYC Metro forecast -

Look for a pleasant day today with mostly sunny skies until later in the afternoon. A few puffy cumulus clouds could build into isolated popcorn showers and maybe even a rumble. Highs near 80.

We expect more near 80/low 80 temps tomorrow with full sunshine and comfortably warm conditions. Wednesday onward is a little warmer with a slight uptick in humidity, but we remain fairly comfortable compared to what it could be in mid-August. Highs in the mid 80's with sunshine Wednesday - Friday.

Our next chance of rain comes this weekend, with sun & clouds and the slight chance of a few showers each day. Highs in the low 80's Saturday & Sunday.
