Good afternoon everyone. A strong cold front continues to push across the upper Great Lakes region, with gusty showers and storms ahead of the boundary. We also have scattered individual clusters nearing the Detroit area, as well as some heavy thunderstorms in northern Indiana.

While we don't have any severe weather watches or warnings at this time, locally severe weather is possible; including damaging winds, hail, frequent lightning, and torrential rain. Right now, out biggest concern is the wind behind the front, with rough waters and dangerous boating/swimming conditions in the western & central Great Lakes and shorelines.

Our secondary concern remains parts of Florida, as well as most of Louisiana and Mississippi, with tropical moisture inundating these areas. For Florida, the focus is on the east coast today from the Port St. Lucie area, northward. Look for locally heavy showers and thunderstorms, as well as the potential for some flooding.

Widespread flooding has been an issue for Louisiana and Mississippi as heavy tropical showers and storms meander over the same spots, dumping copious amounts of rain.

Even without any severe thunderstorm warnings, severe storms may pop up at any time embedded within heavier showers and storms. Look for the potential of damaging winds, frequent lightning, flooding rains, and a waterspout risk for near-coastal areas.
