An article in The Mirror recalls a particular incident that resulted in a week-long dispute between Princes William and Harry.

The dispute was reported to have occurred at the time of Harry's wedding.

In his book, Spare, Harry wrote that the dispute had to do with protocol and whether he could wear a beard to his wedding.

Harry revealed that William wasn't happy about Harry's beard at the wedding saying that military rules forbade it as Harry was getting married in his Army uniform.

Harry went on to bypass protocol by asking permission from the Queen to keep his beard. This did not sit well with William although the Queen said it was okay.

In his book, Harry wrote about the incident,

'But then I explained it to my brother and he... bristled? Not the done thing, he said. Military rules, and so forth.”

According to Harry, William became livid about it saying that the Queen felt forced to say "yes" for Harry's sake.

The argument lasted for a week and Harry stated that the ultimate reason was because William wasn't allowed to sport a beard during his wedding to Kate Middleton.

Harry had further to say about it in his book,

“Ah, there it was. After he'd come back from an assignment with Special Forces, Willy was sporting a full beard, and someone told him to be a good boy, run along and shave it. He hated the idea of me enjoying a perk he'd been denied.”
