Princess Beatrice's husband broke a major royal tradition after Meghan Markle set the precedent

Princess Beatrice's husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, broke a major royal tradition in 2019 when he joined the royals for Christmas in Sandringham.

Previously, Edoardo would have been unable to attend the Christmas event with the royals as he had not yet married Beatrice at the time.

However, Edoardo was given the rare privilege of joining the royals in 2019. This was because a precedent had been set with Meghan Markle in 2017.

In 2017, Meghan was allowed to join the royals for a celebration despite not being married to Prince Harry at the time.

In contrast, Kate Middleton also had to wait until she was married to Prince William before she was issued an invitation to celebrate with the royals.
