The Mirror reports that Princess Beatrice who turns 36 today was once forced to give up an expensive and extravagant gift by the late Queen Elizabeth II.

In 1997, the Queen purchased a seven bedroom Georgian mansion known as Birch Hall for both Beatrice and her sister, Princess Eugenie. At the time, both princesses were just young girls aged seven and nine.

However, the girls never moved in because their mother, Sarah, Duchess of York also refused to move into the home citing the maintenance costs associated with the upkeep of the huge home.

The home was finally sold and the cash was reportedly placed in a trust for Beatrice and Eugenie to access when they were older.
