Michigan has stayed hot on the recruiting trail, landing several prospects in the month of June.

While some have been highly touted, four recent commits can be considered sleeper recruits and are currently ranked outside of the On300. Only one Is considered an Industry four-star prospect — New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw wide receiver Jacob Washington.

On3 currently has Washington graded as a three-star and outside of the Top 50 wide receivers nationally. However, On3 Rankings Director believes Washington has plenty of upside as a true big-bodied wide out.

“Jacob Washington is an intriguing physical talent at receiver,” Power said. “What he was able to do in the combine setting at the Under Armour camp this offseason was impressive. Some of the numbers he laid down were really notable. I think he has really good size and athleticism. He is over 6-foot-2 ½, 180 pounds. He has a 6’7 wingspan. He can run and jump at a really high level at that size. The biggest thing with Jacob Washington is continuing to hone his route running and consistency with his ball skills and change of direction.

“There are a lot of physical traits for Michigan to work with there. I think those give him a high ceiling. Going into his senior season, we’re just looking for continued skill development. But he’s an intriguing prospect and athlete.”

Washington isn’t the only prospect the Wolverines pulled out of New Orleans (La.) Archbishop Shaw. The Wolverines also earned a verbal pledge from three-star running back Jasper Parker.

Only one service, Rivals, has Parker listed as a four-star recruit. On3 is the second highest on Parker but still has him ranked outside of the Top 30 running backs nationally.

“Jasper Parker has good film,” Power said. “He has good size. He’s a taller, longer body type, but he runs hard and physical. He catches the ball well. He has the potential to be a three-down back with the skillset he showed. He’s a guy that came onto the recruiting scene a little later. He popped on college radars in a significant way coming out of his junior season. We are still learning a little bit more about him.”

Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn is considered a four-star on two recruiting services. However, On3 is very low on him, comparatively, and has him ranked as the No. 70 interior offensive lineman — 40 spots lower than his second lowest position ranking.

“Kaden Strayhorn has played tackle at IMG,” Power said. “Certainly, I think he’s considered a center only. He doesn’t have the biggest frame or high end projectable length, but he has quick feet. His experience playing tackle at IMG against top competition will help him in pass protection. He’s a guy who might need to be beside some big guards to offset his lack of size, but he has potential as a second level blocker and certainly seems to be a good fit as a center.”

All services have Stockbridge (Ga.) High linebacker Chase Taylor ranked as a three-star recruit. But a late rise in the rankings is possible thanks to his ceiling and versatility.

“Chase Taylor has fun film,” Power said. “He has a good frame at over 6-foot-2 ½. He’s continued to fill out. I think he’s around 200-210 at last check. He’s another guy with a 6’7 wingspan. He plays a little faster on film than he tests in the combine setting. I think he has the versatility to rush the passer and drop back into space. That’s kind of what Michigan likes at linebacker. He fits what they go for on defense.”
