Four in-state prospects in the 2027 recruiting class notched Michigan offers this past November during their respective visits to Ann Arbor for the Purdue game.

Among the group was Detroit (Mich.) King athlete Jameer Henry , who also went on an offseason return a few months ago to watch spring camp practice.

“It felt great getting one of my first offers from a Power (4) school,” Henry told The Wolverine . “A school that just won a championship. I’m just thankful for the offer. It was a good opportunity to get the offer.”

The win over the Boilermakers was the first time Henry visited U-M.

“Amazing,” Henry said. “I loved it. The crowd, the players, and the coaches. Especially Jim (Harbaugh) . I know he’s not there right now, but he was a great coach.”

Henry was originally offered as a perspective EDGE but he’s since moved over to the offensive side of the ball for his sophomore season. He’s expected to play right tackle.

Understanding the pedigree in which Michigan has developed NFL-ready offensive linemen, winning two Joe Moore Awards to back up its success, Henry has generated a strong opinion about what’s continued to transpire less than an hour from his hometown.

“In my opinion, they’re the reason why the offense scores,” Henry said. “Even if you have receivers, quarterbacks, running backs, you need O-linemen to win the game. So, Michigan produces the best linemen in the country. It’s the reason why they’re going to the combine and going to the best teams in the NFL.”

The recent spring trip provided up-close looks at the offensive linemen for Henry and how the new coaching staff is presiding over the operation.

“When I went to Michigan, it was different from every other college,” Henry said. “The training was different. The conditioning, they’re getting better. It was the best practice that I’ve ever been to in my life.”

Henry doesn’t have a set date for when he’d like to be back on campus. But he doesn’t want to wait long to do so.

“As soon as possible,” Henry said.

At 6-foot-5, 261 pounds, Henry is not yet listed on the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four primary recruiting media services. He holds other notable offers from Kentucky, Ole Miss, Purdue, Tennessee, USC, Eastern Michigan, and Toledo.

“I want the coaches to see how I am and how much skill I have,” Henry said. “I know that I have a big frame, but you have to have heart to play in the big leagues.”
