He was the star of the lauded Michigan football defense during his short tenure in Ann Arbor, playing both safety and VIPER, as well as — well — about 38 other positions, and it turns out he has some staying power in the NFL.

Jabrill Peppers bounced around in his early tenure in the league, being initially drafted by Cleveland before ending up in his home state of New Jersey playing for the Giants . He eventually ended up with the Patriots and New England doesn’t want to see a good thing end.

So they put a ring on it — figuratively.

According to the NFL, Peppers and the Patriots agreed to a three-year contract extension that could pay $30 million.

Peppers was an integral piece to the Michigan football defense in 2016 in particular, but also saw some time on offense in what was affectionately — and sometimes unaffectionately — referred to as the ‘Peppers-cat.’ While he hasn’t dabbled as much at numerous positions like he did in Ann Arbor, Peppers has thrived being a bit less of a positional dilettante in the NFL.
