    Firefighters in Fairfax County battle two overnight house fires

    FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. ( DC News Now ) — Crews with Fairfax County Fire and Rescue were at the scenes of two house fires that broke out in Lorton and Annandale overnight.

    In a post made on X just after 11:30 p.m., the department said officials were at the scene of a house fire in the 8700 block of Bitterroot Court in Lorton. Firefighters arrived with smoke and fire showing from the home’s garage.

    Units were able to extinguish the fire and prevent further exposure to the home. There were no reported injuries, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue officials said.

    About an hour later, just after 12:30 a.m., crews said they were at the scene of a house fire in the 3400 block of Pence Court in Annandale. There, firefighters found smoke showing and a working fire in the basement.

    Like in Lorton, the house fire in Annandale was extinguished with no reported injuries.

    Fire investigators were looking into the causes of both fires.
