Hofstra Takes On American Sunday In First Road Test
Hempstead, NY - The 17th-ranked Hofstra University men's soccer team will have their first road test of the season Sunday night at American and will be looking to get in the win column following a scoreless draw against Fordham. Kickoff at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland, is set for 6 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+ with live statistics also available. (The Center Square) — Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares is again demanding action from the federal government as information concerning the unknown whereabouts of thousands of migrant minors continues to come to light. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security Office of Inspector General released a report this week revealing “significant failures in the oversight and management of unaccompanied migrant children, contributing to thousands of children going missing after being released from federal custody,” according to a press release from Miyares’ office. ...

Fatal Shooting of Lou Loni Jordan, 23, in Northwest
The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a fatal shooting in Northwest. On Friday, August 23, 2024, at approximately 12:17 a.m., officers were in the area of the 700 block of Florida Avenue, Northwest when they heard the sound of gunshots. Once officers arrived on the scene, evidence of a shooting was located but no victim. A short time later, an adult female was located at an area hospital receiving treatment for gunshot wounds. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the woman succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
