Following his diagnosis of a type of cancer, King Charles III will take a break from public appearances to receive treatment.

According to a statement released from Buckingham Palace, the 75-year-old sovereign was released from a London hospital one week ago following surgery to treat an enlarged prostate.

Although the type of cancer he has not been made public by the palace, an official stated that the monarch does not have prostate cancer. During that surgery, doctors discovered the malignancy and the king began treatment on Monday.

The Buckingham Palace statement also said, "His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties," the palace said. "Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual."

No date has been specified for the king to return to his duties.

According to BBC, Prince Harry, who currently resides in the United States, spoke to his father and will be traveling to the UK to see him in the coming days.

This news comes just days after his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, left the same hospital for a planned medical treatment.
