Authorities revealed that the 1-month-old Staten Island child who passed away over the weekend had significant burns on his left arm that went untreated for weeks.

According to the NYPD criminal complaint, the boy's parents informed detectives that the youngster had two serious burn wounds from a kitchen cooking accident.

The baby was found unconscious around 6:45 am on Saturday after a 911 call was made to the NYCHA complex at 240 Broadway in West Brighton. Despite being rushed to the hospital, the infant died.

According to court documents, the parents, Leonard Thompson, 38, and Jenice Lightfoot, 36, state their son was injured when grease from the stove splattered and splashed onto the child's arm.

According to the complaint, the baby's father stated, "I was cooking and holding the baby in my left arm. The 4-year-old kicked a toy and it hit the pan on the stove and knocked the pan over. As I was walking by the stove with the baby, the grease hit the baby."

His mother stated, "I was worried if I made a report and or told you the truth, you would take him away,” Lightfoot said, according to court records.

The parents stand accused of reckless endangerment.

Following their arraignment on Monday, officials set their bail amounts at $100.000 cash/$300,000 bond for Thompson; and $50,000 cash/$150,000 bond for Lightfoot.
