Anniston Museum and Gardens Hosts Hot Spot Highlight: What Happens When A Tree Dies

Anniston, AL – The Anniston Museum and Gardens is set to host an engaging educational program titled “Hot Spot Highlight: What Happens When A Tree Dies” on July 27th at 2 PM. The event will take place in the Longleaf Botanical Gardens and will be led by one of the museum’s docents.

The program will explore the ecological impact of tree death, focusing on how fallen logs contribute to and sustain life for various organisms, including both plants and animals. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the unique ecosystems created by decomposing trees and their benefits to the environment.

Attendees are encouraged to wear closed-toe shoes for safety and to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated. The program is included with museum admission and is free for Anniston Museum and Gardens (AM&G) members.

The session will begin in the AMNH Lobby before moving to the Longleaf Botanical Gardens for the interactive exploration. This event offers a chance to gain a deeper understanding of the natural processes that support biodiversity and maintain healthy ecosystems.
