Watt Fire: Firefighters stop Placer County vegetation fire
PLACER COUNTY, Calif. — Fire crews have stopped a vegetation fire near Antelope on Wednesday, Cal Fire said. Officials said the Watt Fire was stopped at 22.9 acres. The sheriff's office said road closures are in place at Dyer Lane and Watt Avenue and deputies have responded to the area.
California Mayors, Cardroom Employees Protest Bill That Would Let Tribes Bring Lawsuits Over Exclusivity
More than 100 protestors, including local mayors and cardroom employees, gathered in Sacramento on Tuesday to protest Senate Bill SB 549, known as the Tribal Nations Access to Justice Act. The bill, which California lawmakers are considering in the Assembly, would allow California Native American tribes to sue cardrooms over the claim that the privately owned cardrooms are violating the tribes’ rights to exclusively offer Las Vegas-style casino gambling in California.

Lost Pet Fees Waived Through July 15th
While fireworks and holiday events are great for humans, the loud noises can be frightening for pets who may flee or run away. In order to quickly reunite scared, stray animals with their owners, Sacramento County’s Bradshaw Animal Shelter is waiving owner redemption fees through July 15, 2024, except for animals in any ongoing investigation, and confiscated or quarantined animals.
