ANTIGO — Hemp House, the CBD shop located at 321 Superior St., will host a fundraiser for William’s House of Hope Saturday from noon to 6 p.m.

During the event, 50 percent of all product sold in the shop will be donated to William’s House of Hope, the nonprofit that has been providing housing and financial assistance to homeless people in Langlade County. William’s House of Hope aims to establish a homeless shelter in the city in the near future.

Nicole Barron, the president of William’s House of Hope, said the event will feature free food, games such as cornhole and gift boxes including items like CBD, glass pieces and desserts from Chocolate Creations by Kylie.

“It takes a community to help, and they’re just playing their part,” Nicole said. “They’re seeing the trend that other places in town are starting to show their support, so they also want to show that they have a hand in it.”

Hemp House happens to be run by Barron’s brothers, Angelo and Joey Barron.

“He personally has a really strong want to help the community,” she said of Angelo, Hemp House’s owner. “So when he knew that I took this on, he has been brainstorming ways to help. We did a fundraiser at Palace Theater last week, and he offered customers if they came in to his shop and showed them their ticket that they purchased, he was giving them 25 percent off their total purchase. So anyway he can, he’s been creative with getting us extra funds or getting more donors and donations for us.”

Compared to other fundraisers, Angelo said some of the elements of Saturday’s event will be relatively unique.

“We’re going to have a wheel so if you spin the wheel, you can either win some glass pieces or maybe 25 percent off,” Angelo said. “Then I’m going to be doing gift boxes and I’ll be throwing in a Flying Goat. It’s a 5 milligram Delta 9 drink, and I’m going to be throwing it into that gift box with probably two pre-rolls, a gummy, and then also probably samples and flours as well.”

Angelo and Joey said they believe there is a need for William’s House of Hope in Antigo.

“I think it’s something that we as a community need to acknowledge more now than ever, before it’s on our front doorstep,” Angelo said. “With the community support we’ve already seen and what I’ve seen at little small businesses around Antigo, I do think that people are more in support than not.”

Nicole said her organization has assisted 45 individuals so far.

“We have helped with permanent housing, support services, monetary assistance, in kind donations — we are doing so much with the limited resources and money we have now, and to think that within a year how much we’re going to be able to progress and help the community, it’s going to be absolutely amazing,” she said. “So when we look at the scope of the unhoused individuals in Antigo, that number is probably around 150 individuals or more in Langlade County currently.”

Dylan Johnson, the vice president of William’s House of Hope and the owner of Northwoods Painting, which donates five percent of its total labor costs to the organization, said at the moment, money they’ve raised has gone both towards funding immediate and long-term goals.

“A percentage of all of our funds is going towards the long-term shelter,” Johnson said. “But our proceeds are kind of split right now: some of it goes towards immediate housing and immediate actions we’re taking. Other funds are going toward building the shelter that we’re trying to get here this year. So we’re not exhausting all of our funds on these immediate cases, but we do have a large portion of it for that.”
