ANTIGO — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northwoods (BGCNW) has announced the launch of its fundraising campaign to support the Summer Antigo Teen Center Program. The campaign, aptly named “Be a Drop in the Bucket,” aims to raise essential funds totaling $51,000 to sustain operations at the Antigo Teen Center.

Since opening in June 2022, the Antigo Teen Center has served as a vital resource for the community, providing a safe and engaging environment for teens during non-school hours. However, the initial grant support from the Department of Public Instruction is set to expire in May 2024, necessitating community support to ensure the center’s continued operation.

“The Antigo Teen Center has proven to be a cornerstone of our community, offering teenagers a supportive space to connect with peers and mentors,” remarked Corie Zelazoski, Director of Operations for BGCNW.

Operating from Monday to Friday, the Antigo Teen Center provides a range of programming aimed at promoting healthy lifestyles, character development, leadership skills, and career exploration. With an average daily attendance of 30 teens, the center offers meals and snacks along with invaluable mentorship opportunities.

Reflecting on her experience, 2024 Youth of the Year Morgan, shared, “I had convinced myself that I could never belong, but I ended up finding comfort in a place called the Boys and Girls Club. The club has been such a big part of my life. If you would have told me when I first joined that I would be as confident and as courageous as I am today, and that I would have the skills of a leader, I would have probably never believed you. The club and staff have shown me unconditional love and support for the past 4 years and I never would have gotten this far today without them.”

As of March 7, BGCNW has raised $12,500 towards its $51,000 goal for the Summer program at the Antigo Teen Center.

To support the “Be a Drop in the Bucket” campaign and help ensure the continued success of the Antigo Teen Center, donations can be made via the BGCNW website at https://bgcnorthwoods.org/donations/ or through Venmo using @BGC-OFTHENORTHWOODS.
