It appears that New Jersey is home to history makers.

Just this week, a Garden State resident made iGaming history by winning the largest online casino jackpot in U.S. history, according to NJBIZ.

The player hit the jackpot for $6.5 million off of a $200 bet playing the Fruit Blaster's The Big One slot game on Aug. 19 from BetMGM gambling site.

Just a few months ago the fifth-largest Mega Millions jackpot in the history was purchased in New Jersey for $1.13 billion.

Fruit Blaster is a five-reel slot with “The Big One” jackpot slot game. Wins are based on a combination of various symbols. In late February, the progressive jackpot reached an operator record of $4 million. It grew throughout the spring on “The Big One,” which is BetMGM’s progressive jackpot pool of exclusive in-house produced game, the report stated.

BetMGM’s “The Big One” progressive jackpot was reset on Aug. 20 and is now at $1.2 million.

“BetMGM and one lucky player made iGaming history. It’s been a summer filled with anticipation watching the progressive jackpot grow quickly to record levels,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO, BetMGM.

BetMGM is not the only game to win a progressive jackpot. New Jersey iGaming players can win the progressive jackpot through Borgata, Wheel of Fortune Casino and Party Casino.

“BetMGM congratulates the winner on this historic jackpot,” said Angus Nisbet, vice president of gaming, BetMGM. “It’s these ‘you never know when’ moments that make progressive jackpots especially thrilling."

Last year, BetMGM casino platforms recorded over more that $138 million in progressive jackpot payouts, a 32% increase year over year.
