    19-year-old wanted in Long Branch train station murder arrested in Pennsylvania

    The 19-year-old wanted in the murder of a man at the Long Branch train station was arrested Thursday in Pennsylvania, authorities said.

    Damian Bass was found in the Effort section of Chestnuthill Township, Pennsylvania, according to the United States Marshals Service.

    Around 6:15 a.m., Bass, wanted by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office on homicide and lesser charges, was arrested on the 300 block of New York Boulevard in Effort, Pennsylvania, without incident, the Marshals Service said. He was arraigned in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, and lodged at the Monroe County Correctional Facility, awaiting extradition back to Monmouth County.

    At 7:39 p.m. on August 26, Long Branch Police responded to the NJ Transit Long Branch Station for a report of a shooting victim, Chris Swendeman, spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, has said. Upon arrival, officers found one male victim on the platform. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was ultimately pronounced dead at 8:34 p.m.

    The victim was later identified as 43-year-old James Hailey of Newark, Swendeman said.
