    Richland Bomb Squad called in to destroy object at Walla Walla County Fairgrounds

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Walla Walla County Sheriff's Office said a "suspicious object" was found and destroyed by the Richland Bomb Squad.

    Officials said work crews at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds called for help around 11 a.m. on Wednesday after finding the suspicious item.

    According to officials law enforcement responded immediately and the area was evacuated. WWCSO said the object was far away in the fairgrounds and the Richland Bomb Squad was able to consider the device as safe.

    WWCSO said there was no danger to the public and the area was not alerted during the incident because the area was secure and only employees who were onsite were evacuated.

    According to WWCSO the fairgrounds will be open for normal business hours on Thursday.
