ARAB, Ala. (WHNT) — Occupied seats and teary eyes filled the Sanctuary at Liberty Church as community members gathered at a vigil for Violet Satterfield. The vigil was held at Liberty Church in Arab at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Violet was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham on Monday night after a possible drowning incident, and the community is asking for prayers and support.

“I hope really the family felt that,” Liberty Church Pastor Keith Hodges said. “Above all things, I hope they saw that they’re not alone. That there are people that care for them and people that love them. And, there are people standing with them faithfully for Violet’s health.”

According to her mom’s Facebook post, Violet has been stabilized and is in hypothermic sleep to help heal her brain.

Vigil attendees prayed together on the altar rather than in their seats at the church, hoping to be closer together and closer to Violet. Most importantly, they ask the community to pray for Violet and to keep her in mind no matter what.

“Even if you don’t know Violet, or you don’t know anybody, you can still stand the gap,” Liberty Church Children Pastor Susie Amuidsen said. “You can still pray, you can still praise the Lord, and bring hope to situations like these.”

The community of Arab and Liberty Church wants people to know this one thing: They believe Violet’s situation can and will be a miracle.

“We see miracles on a regular basis, so Violet, I think, is gonna be another one of those miracles,” Hodges said.
