EchoStar Opens New O-RAN Testing and Evaluation Lab with $50 Million Grant
EchoStar Corporation has opened the Open RAN Center for Integration and Deployment (ORCID), a state-of-the-art Open RAN (O-RAN) testing and evaluation lab housed at EchoStar's Cheyenne, Wyoming, data center. The facility, which is supported by a $50 million grant from the U.S. Department of Commerce's National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) Public Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Fund (Innovation Fund), offers vendors the opportunity to test and validate O-RAN solutions using EchoStar's live commercial-grade cloud-native Open RAN network.

RSHS boys soccer team hosts loteria fundraiser
The Rock Springs High School Tigers boys soccer team is hosting a Loteria Night fundraiser on Saturday, July 20th, at the Crossroads Park Pavilion, 744 Gookin-White Mountain Road in Rock Springs. Loteria is similar to bingo and is played with a deck of cards instead of numbered balls. The event will begin at 6 p.m., with Mexican Bingo starting at 6:30 p.m. All proceeds will support the RSHS boys soccer team.

Sheridan College is almost finished remodeling a building that will soon be used for its advanced manufacturing and advanced sciences division. Back in 2019, the Seven Pillars Foundation gifted the college a 25-thousand square foot building, located on the southeast corner of Heartland Drive and Solutions Way, which is on the other side of I-90 from the college campus.
National H.S. Finals Rodeo Nearing End of 1st Go-Round
The first go-round of the National High School Finals Rodeo will conclude on Wednesday morning and the 2nd go begins on Wednesday night in Rock Springs. So far, the Wyoming girl's team is running in 3rd place with Yoder's Hadley Thompson sitting in 3rd place in the goat tying. Rhame Hicks from Gillette is 5th in the breakaway roping while Kloe Nichols of Boulder is 8th in the barrel racing. Abby Milburg of Gillette is in 14th place in the first go-round of the pole-bending, Karly Peterson from Buffalo is 22 in the girls cutting and Sydnee Roady out of Worland is 38th in the reined cow horse event.

Big D convenience store planned for Poplar and Wyo Blvd. in Casper
CASPER, Wyo. — Site work is underway at the location of a planned Big D convenience store on the south side of Wyoming Boulevard and South Poplar Street in Casper. Plans submitted to the City of Casper Planning Division show renderings of a modern Big D with its trademark pitched red roof and rock wall exterior siding. At the site — which is just west of the Rocky Mountain Carwash facility — underground fuel tanks can be seen awaiting installation as crews work on leveling and infrastructure. No foundation has been laid as of mid-July.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The southern portion of Kiwanis Community Park, located off East Pershing Boulevard, has reopened following a seasonal closure for wildlife protection. The affected area contains a large pond that provides valuable habitat for many species of wildlife and is especially important to many species of waterfowl. Spring through early summer is a critical time of year for these species as they are nesting and raising their young. Disturbances during this time can cause them to abandon their nests or cause stress to young birds that cannot fly.
