Fast-moving grass fire in Sacramento threatens buildings
SACRAMENTO – Firefighters are working on a grass fire that quickly spread to four acres and threatened structures on Saturday afternoon. The Sacramento Fire Department is battling the fire off the 7300 block of E Levee Road. When they arrived, they found a one-acre fire that quickly spread to 60 acres."On arrival, it was very small but quickly with the wind increase, the fire rapidly grew and we're out here in a rural area and it takes time to get resources," said Sacramento Fire Chief Dave Lauchner. Cooling centers across Northern California will be open with triple-digit temperatures forecast for the first week of July. The heat wave is expected to begin Monday, and by the Fourth of July, the Valley will likely see afternoon temperatures above 105 degrees.
