Argyle ISD Board denounces changes to Title IX
The Argyle ISD Board of Trustees on Monday approved a resolution denouncing the United States Department of Education’s changes to Title IX over gender identity. Title IX states that “no person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance. In April, the Department of Education proposed redefining “sex” to include gender identity, which would allow biological males who identify as females to use the women’s restroom, and vice versa.

Flower Mound to spray for mosquitoes again
The town of Flower Mound will spray for mosquitoes this week after multiple traps tested for West Nile Virus, the town announced Sunday. The town’s Environmental Health Services Division has confirmed mosquito samples collected in the 1700 block of Timber Creek Road and the 6200 block of Madeline Lane have tested positive for West Nile Virus. These are the seventh and eighth positive mosquito samples found in town this year, the town said in a news release.

The Highland Village Planning & Zoning Commission on Tuesday will consider a proposed development for 25 new patio homes near Heritage Elementary School. DJB Development is requesting a zoning change for a 4-acre tract at 102 Barnett Boulevard from SF-40 to a Planned Development District. The concept plan calls for 25 homes at the proposed “Magnolia Village,” as well as the preservation of existing trees on the western property line. According to the meeting agenda, the patio homes would be a minimum of 1,647 square feet and there would be a homeowners’ association and a masonry screen wall along Barnett Boulevard.
