According to the Arizona Weatherman, on Thursday, 1 Aug 2024, Arizona monsoon thunderstorms will develop in the early afternoon hours in the state's southeastern section and on the Mogollon Rim and move northward through the day with the steering flow. Some of these storms may also develop severe weather.

The steering flow around the upper-level high is moving the thunderstorms from the southeast toward the northwest over the course of the day. Expect thunderstorms to develop after 12 pm and develop into the early evening hours. The main Counties to be impacted will be Cochise, Santa Cruz, Eastern Pima, Graham, East Pinal, Greenlee, Southern Apache, Southern Navajo, Gila, Southern Coconino, and Yavapai. The instability is moderate to high with potential severe weather, including winds >60 mph, hail less than one inch, dust in prone areas, and 1-2 inch localized flooding. The Southeastern part of the state has the most unstable indices. However, with this information, you can be prepared for the potential impact of these storms.

The storms will migrate from the south to the north in Cochise, Graham, and East Pima Counties and move from the southeast toward the northwest on the Rim throughout the day. I am not expecting large-scale flooding areas like yesterday; instead, I am expecting more isolated localized flooding conditions.
