Pete Alonso wants another crack at eclipsing the Home Run Derby record.

The Mets first baseman announced on Instagram that he would be participating in the Home Run Derby for the fifth time on July 15 during Major League Baseball's All-Star festivities at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. Alonso has competed in the Derby every season that it was held since he debuted in 2019.

During his rookie season in 2019, Alonso won the Home Run Derby crown at Progressive Field in Cleveland before defending his title in 2021 at Coors Field in Denver. He also competed in 2022 and 2023. He leads MLB with 220 home runs since 2019.

Ken Griffey Jr. is the only player in MLB history to win three Home Run Derby crowns.

Earlier on Sunday, it was announced that Alonso had been selected to his fourth National League All-Star team as a reserve first baseman. Alonso, who has 18 home runs and 48 RBI this season, will be competing in his third straight All-Star game.
