Ingrid Andress apologized in a statement she posted on Tuesday (July 16) after her viral performance of the National Anthem at the MLB Home Run Derby.

Andress, 32, said in a written statement she shared on Instagram and other social media platforms. “I’m not gonna bullsh*t y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun. Xo, Ingrid.”

The Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter drew criticism for her rendition of the National Anthem on Monday evening (July 15) at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The performance quickly stirred backlash from social media commenters . Others, including fellow country artists Carly Pearce , Lady A 's Hillary Scott , Matt Stell and George Birge , offered words of encouragement and applauded Andress’ “guts” to share her statement on Tuesday. BRELAND , who featured Andress on “Here For It,” a track that appeared on his debut album, shared a photo of the duo on stage earlier in the day on Tuesday. He said: “I'd just like to remind everyone that [Ingrid Andress] is an amazing vocalist who I've enjoyed singing with every time I've had the opportunity. That is all ✌🏾”

Prior to her National Anthem performance, Andress announced her new single, “Colorado 9,” which is due on July 24. She said at that time that she would play two shows in celebration of her new music, including one on Wednesday evening (July 17) in Nashville, Tennessee, and another on her single’s release day in Denver, Colorado. Andress did not offer updates about those two shows when she posted her statement on Tuesday.

“Thank you for being here for me even though I’ve been living under a rock,” Andress said as she announced “Colorado 9” after being “absent for a minute.” “Y’all are the best and I can’t wait to see you at my shows (stay tuned for more show announcements soon).”

A new chapter of music from Andress will follow Good Person , her latest full-length album that released in August 2022 with an extended edition that followed in March 2023. That collection included her duet with Sam Hunt, “Wishful Drinking,” in addition to “Seeing Someone Else,” “Pain,” “Blue” and more. Andress previously said the project blended reflections of “uncomfortable feelings” amid “extremely difficult” changes in her life, with ballads to “get to the other, brighter side.” She shared with listeners at that time: “I love you and ur gonna get thru it.”
