Singer Shocks Fans With Big Announcement After Disastrous National Anthem At MLB Home Run Derby

The National Anthem is a staple of sports, played at every major sporting event to evoke a sense of patriotism and unity among fans, and to honor the country. Some renditions have left those in attendance in awe, while others would have been better played instrumentally.
As those in Arlington, Texas, on Monday night prepared to take in the festivities of the MLB Home Run Derby, the anthem was once again played.
Special events like the Home Run Derby are reserved for higher-profile artists to deliver the anthem to the crowd. For this year's derby, MLB chose country singer Ingrid Andress.
Andress is known for her hit singles, "More Hearts Than Mine," "The Stranger," and "Wishful Drinking." Unfortunately, the four-time Grammy nominee will now also be known for her version of the National Anthem, though not because it was her best work.
Within the first couple of lyrics, Andress appeared off and out of key, struggling to hit the high notes. Many on social media immediately bashed the 32-year-old singer for her performance.
On Tuesday, Andress announced through a social media post that she was intoxicated during her performance and that she'll be entering rehab immediately.
"I'm not gonna bulls--- y'all, I was drunk last night," Andress wrote. "I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I'll let y'all know how rehab is—I hear it's super fun."
Though Andress didn't hit a home run with her performance, Los Angeles Dodgers' outfielder Teoscar Hernández walked out the winner of last night's Home Run Derby, beating Kansas City Royals' infielder Bobby Witt Jr. in the finals.
Tonight, MLB will have its annual All-Star Game. The National Anthem will be performed by multi-platinum-selling artist Cody Johnson.
