    AC Alpine skiing takes on section championships

    The Armstrong/Cooper Alpine skiing team took on the Section 5 championships last week at Wild Mountain in Taylors Falls, with the boys and girls both putting together competitive times.

    The Armstrong/Cooper boys earned 11th place at the Section 5 boys championships, earning 257 points, just two behind 10th-place Brainerd. The boys section championship was won by Minnetonka, who secured 406 points.

    Brecker Swanson was the Wings’ top finisher, earning 15th place with a total time of 1:08.84 and 92 points. Jameson Kubitschek was next up, earning 36th place and 71 points with a time of 1:13.59.

    Alexander Miller finished in 51st with a time of 1:23.59. Luke Wencker earned 69th place with a time of 1:28.74. Jefferson Kubitschek earned 72nd place with a time of 1:30.40.

    The Wings girls finished 14th at the section meet, collecting 180 points. The girls section championship was also taken by Minnetonka, who scored 388.5 points. Megan Swanson was Armstrong/Cooper’s top finisher with a total time of 1:13.55 for 41st place and 65 points.

    Mary Toth finished 57th with a time of 1:21.15 and Melia Klein finished 69th with a time of 1:26.76. Sarah Francis earned 77th place with a total time of 1:28.78, while Kara Hansen earned 88th place with a time of 1:44.14. Grace Hyland was right behind her teammate, finishing in 89th place with a time of 1:44.37.
