High Speed Pursuit in North Georgia
Last Saturday, July 20th, a Chattooga County, Georgia Deputy and several Trion Police Officers were conducting a Safety Check on Old Highway 27, when a silver Altima approached and acted like it was slowing down for the stop but immediately sped up and turned on Thomas Drive. An officer on the scene yelled at the vehicle to stop when another Deputy initiated his lights to pursue the vehicle.

Summerville, Georgia Man Arrested Twice this Week
A 30-year-old Summerville, Georgia man was arrested twice this week – once on Tuesday and then again on Wednesday. Arrest reports show Brandon Tyler Hullett – was arrested for shoplifting in Chattooga County on Tuesday – and he was booked in at the Chattooga County Jail and then released on bond. And on Wednesday – Hullett was found with methamphetamine after the Floyd County Police arrested him – on a warrant from the Acworth Police Department. Hullett was arrested in Floyd County, at the intersection of, Highway 27 and Highway 156.
Diesel Fuel Spill Near Redmond Circle and Garden Lakes Boulevard
Rome police are asking that motorists avoid the area near the intersection of Redmond Circle and Garden Lakes Boulevard after a wreck between an RV and a dump truck spilled approximately 90 gallons of diesel fuel on the roadway around 10 a.m. on Friday. As of 3:45 p.m. those at the scene estimated the cleanup could continue into Friday afternoon. "We will stay on the scene and in command until all cleanup efforts are complete," Rome Police Department Public Information Officer Kelly Madden said. The Georgia Department of Transportation and Carter's Environmental were called to help clean up the scene and the Rome Fire Department is also assisting the police department.
