City of Ogallala to chlorinate city water supply beginning Monday
Ogallala, Neb. - The City of Ogallala will chlorinate the city water supply next week as part of a maintenance routine. The routine will begin Monday, July 22nd and will continue through Friday, July 26th. The city says there might be a slight taste or odor.

Madison man sentenced for involvement in fentanyl distribution conspiracy
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A Madison man was sentenced Wednesday for his involvement in a fentanyl distribution conspiracy. District Court Judge Brian Buescher sentenced Jason Penalbert, 37, to more than 4 years imprisonment for conspiring to distribute 400 grams or more of fentanyl. Once Penalbert is released from prison, he will begin a two-year term of supervised release.

Nebraska Countdown to Kickoff: No. 44 DL Riley Von Poppel
The countdown to Nebraska’s season opener on August 31 against the University of Texas at El Paso Miners is down to just 44 days, bringing Huskers sophomore defensive lineman Riley Von Poppel in today’s player spotlight. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound Van Poppel was a frequent sight on the field last season in his first year with the program, playing in each of the Huskers’ last 11 games. On the season, the Argyle, Texas native recorded five tackles, one tackle for loss, and half a sack. An understudy to nose tackle Nash Hutmacher, Van Poppel is expected to once again have a rotational role for the Huskers in 2024. He’ll get frequent playing time and could take a big step forward from his freshman season if all progresses well. Following this fall, Van Poppel would be in line to become the Huskers starting defensive tackle as Nash Hutmacher is expected to exhaust his eligibility this fall. Fox found in Lincoln tests positive for rabies
A fox that recently tested positive for rabies is the first case of its kind in Lincoln. Lincoln Animal Control announced Thursday that the fox came into contact with somebody’s dog and was injured. Animal control was called to pick up the fox, which was showing signs of illness.
