U.S Coast Guard Closing Mississippi RiverTo Boaters Thru The Holiday Weekend
Due to ongoing major flooding on the Mississippi River and the extremely dangerous conditions that exist , the United States Coast Guard has decided to take the rare steps and CLOSE the river to all recreational boating effective now through at least the Fourth of July Holiday Weekend. The closure affects the majority of the Upper Mississippi including Pools 10, 11, 12, and 13.

High waters in the Mississippi River cause flooding for neighboring town
MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Recent storms have created a rush of water into Wisconsin rivers and lakes, causing issues for towns nearby. The Village of Cassville is located right on the Mississippi River and has experienced flooding due to the high water levels in the river. The village ferry has shut down along with all boat launches, as they are under water.
City of Dubuque Announces Arts and Culture Operating Support and Capacity-Building Grants Awards
The Dubuque City Council recently approved recommendations from the City’s Arts and Cultural Affairs Advisory Commission to award $250,000 in operating support grant funds to 17 of Dubuque’s 501(c)(3) arts and culture organizations and $35,000 to fund nine capacity-building grants to support initiatives that aim to create more sustainable and effective arts and culture organizations.

Iowa’s ag secretary comments on Deere’s latest job cuts
(Radio Iowa) – Ag equipment maker John Deere is announcing plans to eliminate some 800 jobs at plants in Iowa and Illinois over the coming weeks. It follows word last month the company would shift production of its skid steer loaders and compact track loaders from Dubuque to Mexico by the end of 2026. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig is reacting to the news. “Anytime that you’re hearing about roll backs, layoffs, moving things outside of the state of Iowa or the United States,” Naig says, “you’re concerned about those things, you want to understand them.”
