Asbury Park African-American Music Project Hosts Free Jazz Concert Series

ASBURY PARK, NJ – The Asbury Park African-American Music Project, Inc. (AP-AMP) is hosting a free concert series, celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Asbury Park through jazz music. The concerts will be held every Tuesday, starting on July 9, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at The Blackbird Commons, located at 131 Atkins Ave, Asbury Park, NJ 07712.

The mission of AP-AMP is to share the music, cultural heritage, and stories of Springwood Avenue through oral histories, research, writing, and engaging programs. By developing accessible resources that reflect Asbury Park’s African-American music heritage, AP-AMP aims to support the City of Asbury Park and others in creating interpretive heritage projects. The project also seeks to address the lack of representation in traditional historic resources, giving voice to the stories of Asbury Park’s African-American community.
