Wave of Job Cuts Hits Wisconsin, Thousands Brace for Layoffs

The mass layoffs continue in Wisconsin.

Under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act, an employer with more than 100 full-time workers must give 60 days' notice before laying off 50 or more people at a single site.

Two more businesses have filed a notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development this week.

• Ward Manufacturing is closing a facility in Milwaukee, leading to 62 staff losing their positions on August 1
• Sodexo is closing a facility in West Allis on June 30, leading to 50 jobs being cut.

Wisconsin Job Cuts

Several other businesses have recently filed WARN notices.

• Concordia University in Wisconsin announced a restructuring that will lead to mass layoffs.
• Walmart is closing a facility in Milwaukee, leading to 105 staff losing their positions on July 26
• JELD-WEN Inc. is closing a location in Hawkins. 338 staff will be laid off on June 10.
• Cadrex Manufacturing Solutions advised they are laying off 30 staff.
• Zoomlion officially filed a WARN Act notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development advising of impending layoffs. They stated that 31 staff at a facility in Wisconsin will be laid off in June.
• Lakeside Book Company also filed a WARN Act notice with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development advising of impending layoffs. The notice stated that 339 staff at a facility in Wisconsin would be laid off in June.
• Staff Management Solutions let go of 87 staff in Sheboygan Falls.
• Sientra is also closing a facility in Milwaukee in June, leading to 126 employees being laid off.
