ROARING GAP — On Saturday, Aug. 10, the third annual 5th District Republican Party chose the winner of the District Above & Beyond recipient at their volunteer banquet in Roaring Gap. North Carolina’s 5th District consists of 10 counties: Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Caldwell, Guilford, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, and Wilkes. Jack Simms is the Chairman of the 5th District Republican Party. Each County was represented by an exceptional person chosen by their Republican Party as someone who’s activities represented the volunteer spirt of going Above & Beyond.

A volunteer is one who freely gives of themself in service of a cause, giving of their time, talents, and effort to help that cause. Such volunteers are the backbone of any Republican Party effort, often going to great lengths with a commitment toward electing people who share the Republican ideals and philosophies that strengthen and protect our American values.

This year, the Ashe County Republican Party unanimously nominated Mrs. Terri Penzenstadler and from the 10 candidates, Penzenstadler was chosen as the premier example of committed support and giving to the cause of the 5th District Republican Party.

The Ashe County Republican Party has grown in the recent years and become a vibrant and more visible part of the Ashe County community and culture. One reason is the selfless commitment and innumerable volunteer hours of the Party Vice Chair, Terri Penzenstadler, who is also the Treasurer of the Ashe County NC Republican Women’s Club.

She has been very active in supporting both the Ashe Republican Party and the Ashe County NC Republican Women’s Club (ACNCRW), truly going “Above & Beyond” in countless ways fostering the many efforts of both groups to reach out to the community and in guiding numerous successful fund-raising efforts. She initiated Bill 2023-LU-163V3 for exempt fund-raising days, volunteered as an adult supervisor and mentor for the Ashe County Republican Teen Club, worked in media including social media and increasing Ashe County Republican Party’s and the ACNCRW’s internet reach, notably in establishing the Nation Builder website tool. She is currently working on several projects to bring Republican candidates to the community to meet and have open question forums with Ashe County citizens. This includes the upcoming “Dinner with Republican Women Leaders” scheduled for Friday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m. at West Jefferson United Methodist Church, 107 West 2nd Street, West Jefferson. Further information on that event is available at ACNCRW.org.

The Ashe County Republican Party and the Ashe County NC Republican Women’s Club are both very happy for Mrs. Penzenstadler to win this award and are equally proud of her volunteer efforts in support of the local Republican Party. Congratulations Mrs. Terri Penzenstadler!
