Normally, in the event of rains, the concerts are moved to the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp across from the Iowa City Police Department. Tonight, however, the Avey-Grouws Band will be performing on the second floor of the Reunion Brewery on the Ped Mall starting at 6:30.
Kirkwood for Kids Summer Camp A Success
Kirkwood Washington County Regional Center hosted their annual Kirkwood for Kids Summer Camp June 17th-20th. 150 elementary-aged students from Washington, WACO, Highland, Lone Tree, and Mid-Prairie experienced a wide range of topics over the course of the week, most of which related to STEAM education (Science-Technology-Engineering-Arts-Math). STEAM subjects are considered critical for children as they develop key life skills. Kirkwood Washington Regional’s annual summer camp experience is an opportunity for local students to engage in creative, hands-on classes, make new friends, and learn while they are at it. Next month, July 20-23rd from 9 am-Noon, continues summer camp for middle school students. Kirkwood Camp Exploration provides local middle school-aged students the opportunity to explore career possibilities in auto mechanics, welding, interior design, and architecture-construction-engineering (ACE). There is still time to register at 319-653-4655, and full camp tuition scholarships are available to those who qualify.
