Phyllis Smith 1924-2023
Phyllis lived in Paso Robles for 50 years. She was a school teacher, a quilter, a gardener, a member of AAUW, a wonderful neighbor, and a surrogate grandma. She was strong, active, and very independent. She was a lover of yoga and even figured out how to access her instructor via Zoom during the Covid lockdown. She was a regular at the Templeton Farmers’ Market. Phyllis and her family loved the outdoors and camping. She took daily walks with her loving neighbors, who hosted a tie-dye party to honor her 99th birthday in July. She lived independently in her home on Moss Ave. until her death.

Ralph J. Larsen 1945-2024
Ralph Jerome Larsen, born October 2, 1945, in Lompoc, CA, passed away on January 17, 2024, at his home in Atascadero, CA. Ralph attended Buellton Grammar School and graduated from Santa Ynez High School in 1963. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy in July 1967. He was trained as a Fire Control Technician in Bainbridge, Maryland. He was assigned to the USS Chipola. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Ralph was skilled in many traits, and over the years, he worked as a technician, machinist, and salesman. He will be remembered for his vibrant personality and sense of humor.
Rowena R. Smith 1932-2024
Rowena Rae Smith, 91, of Atascadero, passed away on January 17, 2024, at Ingleside Skilled Nursing Facility after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Rowena was born June 1, 1932, in San Jose, CA. She was the only child born to Jess & Kathleen Regli. The family moved to Salinas, where her dad was the Baseball Coach at Hartnell College, and her mother worked for Monterey County as an auditor.
