Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake four-star wide receiver Travis Smith has the spotlight on him as the next wide receiver domino to fall on Georgia’s board.

The Westlake star has been a long time key target for the in-state Bulldogs. Smith, the No. 59 overall prospect in the On3 rankings will announce his commitment on July 13 around 7 p.m.

Smith has a short list of contenders. Alabama, Auburn, Georgia and Tennessee will be on Smith’s table on commitment day. He took official visits to all four programs this summer.

The in state Bulldogs have been a heavy favorite for quite some time. Georgia is in prime position to capitalize and close out a strong month on the wide receiver market.

Georgia landed commitments from four-stars Talyn Taylor and Tyler Williams . They also landed three-star Landon Roldan and picked up the commitment from four-star Thomas Blackshear in the middle of May.

Georgia missed on fellow in-state superstar CJ Wiley last week as he committed to Florida State. Smith is the clear next major piece of the puzzle.

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine has Georgia leading the way with a 93.5 percent chance. However, the intel suggests another team has emerged as the favorite.

Smith has been open that Georgia and Tennessee have been the two leaders. Auburn is a program this reporter won’t remove off the board yet.

Talking with sources, it seems that Tennessee has become a major threat to the perceived hold Georgia has held in this recruitment.

Tennessee has made Smith a major priority as of late. He took an official visit on June 21. The Volunteers knocked that visit out of the park.

Smith has spoken with a former Georgia target and Peach State star, Mike Matthews on a few occasions.

The two have talked at length about the offense and the opportunity to be a featured player in a pass-happy system in Knoxville.

Georgia got in on Smith early. The Bulldogs have a deep deck of cards in the class of 2025 already. Smith could be the centerpiece of Tennessee’s pass-catching core in the 2025 cycle.

There are a lot of things that will happen over the next 12 days. Georgia has been in a good spot for a lot of this recruitment and made their own impression at the beginning of June.

There appears to be slightly more buzz in Knoxville than Athens as of today.
