Stetson Bennett reveals his favorite play of his career with the Georgia Bulldogs

You'd be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn't think that Stetson Bennett should be considered one of the greatest, if not the very greatest, quarterback who has ever been at the helm of Georgia football.

Bennett put together one of the most inspiring underdog stories in college football history, going from a two-star recruit who held just one FBS offer from Middle Tennessee State to a player who won two national championships after taking the starting job from a quarterback who was once considered to be the best high school football player in the nation.

Bennett recently recalled his favorite play over that time stretch -- and it's a plenty understandable one.

It came on a 13-yard touchdown run against No. 1-ranked Tennessee in 2022, the one where Bennett threw up the infamous "call me" sign after Vols fans had blow up his phone the previous night.

It clearly served as motivation, as Georgia recorded a 27-13 win in one of the most memorable games to ever be played in Sanford Stadium.

Georgia trailed Tennessee, 3-0 after an early fumble. The Bulldogs drove down the field, but were up against the odds on a third-and-10 from the 13-yard line.

The Vols went full send with a blitz that broke through, but Bennett slipped away and went the distance.

“That (touchdown) run was probably my favorite play,” Bennett said in a recent interview. “They (Tennessee fans) upset me. Because they called my phone probably like 1,000 times that night. I had to turn it off. I listen to white noise before every game and freaking couldn’t listen to it.”

“I told Brett (Seither) if I score, I gotta score," Bennett said. "I can’t throw it. I gotta run a touchdown in. I’m gonna do the whatever (phone call celebration).”

Georgia currently sits on the right side of the all-time series with Tennessee, posting an overall record of 28-23-2 against the Vols.

The Bulldogs will look to expand upon their seven-game winning streak against the team when they face the Vols once more on Nov. 16 in Athens.
