- Mike Bobo settled right back into the Georgia offensive coordinator job last season. Brutally efficient, Georgia ended the season fifth in the country in total and scoring offense, fifth in passing efficiency, No. 1 in the nation in third down conversions, No. 2 behind Oregon in first downs, and first in the SEC and ninth in time of possession.
The O wasn’t always perfect. It struggled a bit against Auburn, spun its wheels against Missouri, and was held to a season-low 321 yards in the lone loss to Alabama.
This year’s attack might be totally unstoppable. Georgia won’t necessarily score more points or crank up more yards, but it should be even more effective doing what it does. What does that mean?
The Dawgs should put games away faster because of the O.
Last year they outscored teams 96-65 in the first quarters, and then it all kicked in outscoring teams 209-61 in the second. Forget about the third - the D locked down and allowed just 19 points - but this time around it might be all over after the first 15 minutes. It all starts with …
- The offensive line belongs in the NFL. Four starters are back, and they’re all fantastic. Earnest Greene and Xavier Truss at the tackles, Dylan Fairchild and Tate Ratledge at guards, and Jared Wilson - he’s about to be a star - stepping in for Sedrick Van Pran at center.
The developed depth might be a wee bit lacking, but that’s looking for a problem. The line that was seventh in the nation in fewest sacks allowed, and 14th in tackles for loss given up, will be even better.
- Carson Beck went from being some guy playing quarterback at Georgia to a possible No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The Bulldogs lost Brock Vandagriff to Kentucky, but Gunner Stockton appears to be just fine as the main backup.
There’s nothing flashy about Beck’s game - and that’s a positive. 6-4, 220 pounds, live arm, great decision-maker totally calm, totally cool, totally accurate. He hit 72% of his throws for close to 4,000 yards and 24 touchdowns with six picks, and ran for four scores.
- Georgia lost Daijon Edwards and Kendall Milton after they combined for 1,700 yards and 27 touchdowns - and everything is just fine. Trevor Etienne will be fantastic coming in from Florida, Roderick Robinson is a 240-pound blaster, and Brandon Robinson will be a problem once he gets past his knee injury.
- There’s no replacing Brock Bowers, but Georgia has a ton of talent at tight end ready to take over. Oscar Delp is a 6-5, 245-pound talent who caught 24 passes, and Stanford transfer Ben Yurosek would be a star for anyone else - he caught 108 passes for 1,342 yards and five scores in three years for the Cardinal.
The crazy part about the Georgia offense last season was how the receivers were just … fine.
Dominic Lovett is a talented target finishing second on the team with 54 grabs for 613 yards and four scores. Dillon Bell, Rara Thomas, and Miami transfer Colbie Young will be great, and the young talent in the bullpen is outstanding. Beck will get everyone involved.
