Georgia ‘parts ways’ with senior DB David Daniel-Sisavahn

A Georgia contributor at defensive back the past two seasons is no longer with the team according to a statement released by the program on Tuesday. David Daniel-Sisavahn , a senior safety, is no longer with the program. The statement called it a parting of ways.

“We wish David good luck during his next step,” Georgia head coach Kirby Smart said in the statement.

Daniel-Sisavahn, a senior from Woodstock, Ga., played in 24 games over the past two seasons with one start against South Carolina in 2023. He has served as a special teamer while also helping Georgia out with its DIME package on third down, one in which the Bulldogs use six defensive backs on the field. He contributed heavily in that role in 2022 when Dan Jackson was lost for the season with a foot injury. Daniel-Sisavahn’s lone start came when Javon Bullard was battling a sprained ankle.

The past two seasons have seen the former four-star prospect pile up 24 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and a pair of pass breakups. He also saw action in nine games in 2021, primarily on special teams and in mop-up duty, with six total tackles.

Daniel-Sisavahn signed with Georgia in the 2021 class and he was ranked as the nation’s No. 119 overall prospect per the On3 Industry-Ranking, a weighted average that includes all four websites that publish recruiting rankings. He was the nation’s No. 7 safety and the No. 14 player in Georgia.

The dismissal of Daniel-Sisavahn might shed some light on why Georgia made a late addition in June. The Bulldogs went into the transfer portal to get Oregon defensive back Collin Gill , a redshirt freshman, on June 6. Gill is orginally from Washington D.C.

Georgia is currently looking for a starting safety in 2024 to play along side junior standout Malaki Starks. Veteran walk-on Dan Jackson and redshirt sophomore JaCorey Thomas got the starts at safety in the G-Day spring scrimmage. Starks was limited this spring and missed the G-Day game, allowing the Jackson and Thomas to serve in those roles.

Alabama transfer Jake Pope and true freshman KJ Bolden , a former five-star prospect, worked with the second team defense in the scrimmage, which concluded a five-week, 15-practice spring camp for the Bulldogs. Daniel-Sisavahn did not appear on defense in that game.
