Elite 2026 LB Xavier Griffin building a bond with Glenn Schumann

Gainesville (Ga.) four-star linebacker Xavier Griffin continues to see Georgia’s pursuit of him evolve. June 15 has come and gone.

June 15 marked the opening of the contact period for the junior class with college coaches. Georgia was among the first programs to reach out to the No. 27 overall prospect in the 2026 On3 Industry Rankings.

Georgia defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann has been Griffin’s early point of contact with Georgia as well as outside linebacker coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe .

Griffin is hearing from Georgia often. It’s not every day but it’s often and when Georgia calls or reaches out, Griffin makes it a priority to engage.

“I know they’re not really a team that wants to bother you all the time, but it doesn’t bother and when they talk to you, you know that’s going to be important,” Griffin said. “They’re going to let you know that you’re wanted. Really, we talk every now and then.”

Schumann has been an impressive piece of Georgia’s pitch for Griffin. He’s been impressed with Schumann as a person as well as his knowledge of the game of football.

Georgia staking an early place in Xavier Griffin’s recruitment

On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine favors Georgia at the moment for Griffin. The Bulldogs have a 17 percent chance of landing the four-star.

Griffin expects to be back in Athens this fall for games. He has Georgia near the top of his list. Coincidently, he sported Georgia gloves during Gainesville’s joint OTA in Kennesaw on Thursday.

“They’re one of my top schools and I just like the gloves,” Griffin said with a laugh.
