2026 defensive standout Jontavius Wyman pledges services to Georgia

The build toward the future continues for the Georgia Bulldogs, with the second commitment of the 2026 cycle coming on Saturday in the form of defensive back Jontavius Wyman .

A 6-foot, 160 pound rising junior, Wyman ranks as the nation’s No. 177 overall prospect in the 2026 On300 rankings, and he is the No. 15 cornerback and No. 21 prospect in the state of Georgia by the same measure. Wyman is a product of Jonesboro, Georgia’s Jonesboro High School.

“It’s so special because it’s from the home state and Georgia’s a great place,” Wyman told DawgsHQ’s Jeremy Johnson of the offer from the Dawgs recently . “Georgia stacks up a lot against the other programs. Their facilities, their academics and their resources all stand out. It’s also a great environment in Athens.”

He joins five-star quarterback Jared Curtis , the nation’s No. 7 overall prospect, in the 2026 class for Georgia.

Wymans ranks as the nation’s No. 93 overall prospect and a top ten cornerback for the cycle in On3’s proprietary rankings. His overall rating is the highest among all of the top four scouting services in the country as of today.

Jontavius Wyman the latest talented defensive back in the fold

While Wyman is helping to set the stage for the Class of 2026, the Dawgs have been doing major work of late in the defensive backfield for 2025.

Since June 1, the Bulldogs have added four defensive back commits for 2025, with each name in the four-star range.

Standout cornerback Shamari Earls, safety Todd Robinson, star/safety Jaylan Morgan, and safety Rashad Johnson have all chosen Georgia since that time, providing big early returns for Georgia coaches Donte Williams and Travaris Robinson.

Williams, Georgia’s new cornerbacks coach, and Robinson, the co-defensive coordinator, were new additions to the staff in the off-season.

They replaced Fran Brown, who accepted a job as Syracuse head coach, and Will Muschamp, who stepped into an analyst role for the Bulldogs.
