The Georgia Bulldogs received some meaningful news this week as fall camp begins in Athens ahead of the 2024 college football season.

Former four-star running back Branson Robinson has been cleared and will practice with no limitations ahead of his redshirt sophomore season, according to head coach Kirby Smart.

The Madison, Mississippi, native missed the entire 2023 season due to a ruptured patellar tendon suffered in fall camp a year ago. He was expected to be a large part of Georgia's rushing attack after a stellar freshman campaign.

Despite players like Kenny McIntosh, Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards ahead of him on the depth chart in 2022, Robinson racked up 330 yards on 68 carries (4.9 yard average) with three touchdowns. Two of those scores came against TCU in the national championship game.

The Bulldogs were ravaged by injury at tailback last season. So much so that wide receiver Dillon Bell was thrusted into a large role in the backfield. While he preformed well when called upon, Branson's return provides some needed depth so that UGA can get the most of its offensive talent this season.

Robinson showed confidence when asked about his return on The Players' Lounge podcast this spring.

"It's gonna be hell," Robinson said. "I'm talking to the people here. Don't worry about anything like that. Just know, when Branson Robinson's back, you're gonna know I'm back."

Robinson will be joined by sophomore Roderick Robinson and Florida transfer Trevor Etienne, the projected starter, in this year's backfield. Etienne and junior walk-on Cash Jones are the most experienced of the group.

It's safe to say that the Dawgs will utilize the running game early and often in 2024. Even with Heisman Trophy contender Carson Beck back at the helm at quarterback, SEC games are won in the trenches.
