Manchester (Ga.) Five-Star Plus+ defensive lineman Justus Terry was Georgia ‘s first 2025 commitment in January of 2023. After being committed to the Bulldogs for 14 months, he flipped to USC back in March.

After taking official visits to Georgia and Florida State early in June, Terry backed off his pledge to USC and took an official visit to Alabama instead of heading west to visit the Trojans.

When visits opened back up the last week of July, the No. 7 prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking returned to Athens for an unofficial visit.

Now he is set to begin his senior season as an uncommitted recruit and he doesn’t see that status changing any time soon.

“I am going to hold off deciding until the Early Signing Period,” Terry told On3. “I committed early, I rushed things a little and now I will take my time. My plan is to focus on my senior season, go to some games, scout and some teams and see if I can see myself playing for these different schools.”

Terry is not sure if he will take anymore official visits or not. He has taken three, and the Crimson Tide, Bulldogs and Seminoles remain in the thick of this race. Auburn , Ohio State , South Carolina and Texas among others are still reaching out and Terry is just taking things day to day.

“Schools are giving me space right now. They all know where I stand right now and where my focus is. I am taking my time. Recruiting is not my main focus right now. As the season gets going, I will look more into the schools and just see how I fit in.

“My main focus right now is making another run to the state championship game, and winning it this time.”

The only game Terry is set to attend right now is when Clemson plays Georgia in Mercedes Benz Stadium on Aug. 31. He plans to get to as many games as possible this fall as he works towards his final decision.

“It is about that home feeling and how I fit into the team,” Terry added. “That is what it will come down to. I have been on a lot of visits, so now I want to see some teams play more and just see where I think I will be my best at.”

Alabama continues to have Terry’s attention

“I have been to Alabama four or five times now,” Terry said. “Once I decided to move on from USC, I knew I wanted to get back to Alabama. I had camped there a couple of times, I had been there for a game and I had stayed in contact with coach Freddie Roach . My official visit to Alabama was great and I continue to talk with coach Roach. I get a lot of love from coach Roach and coach Kalen DeBoer . It is great to get to know coach DeBoer, and he just tells me to watch the season and how they play. Alabama is a great program, the coaches are cool and I will be watching them this season.”

    Terry likes Mike Norvell’s energy

“The tradition at Florida State has always had them on my list,” Terry said. “Going down there, I can start my own legacy and do something special. Coach Mike Norvell ‘s energy is like nobody else’s. You get to Florida State, you see coach Norvell and it just gives you confidence in him. He is a great guy, he is getting the program back to the top and he would be great to be around. Florida State has that home feeling too. Then coach Odell Haggins has been there so long. He is all about Florida State. He mixes the old game with the new game and makes sure his players become the best they can be.”

Georgia never changed their approach with Terry

“It was great to get back to Georgia late in July,” Terry said. “I enjoyed hanging out, being around the coaches and hanging out with other recruits. It is always good vibes for me when I am at Georgia. Nothing ever changed with Georgia. They always told me recruiting was a marathon, so Georgia has stayed with me, they always showed me love and I know a lot of people up there really well. The feeling I have at Georgia is what I like most. Just with the coaches, players like Mykel Williams, Warren Brinson and Jordan Hall and how they make me feel stands out. The locker room at Georgia is tight and I like the brotherhood there a lot.”
