    Ohio softball adds transfer Colleen Bare to the roster

    The Ohio softball team has added transfer Colleen Bare to the roster for the 2025 season, head coach Jenna Hall announced on July 3. Bare comes to the Bobcats from Central Arkansas as a junior and will have two years of eligibility.

    “We are thrilled to have Colleen join our Bobcat family,” Hall said. “Colleen brings high level, postseason experience that will benefit our program in the best way. Colleen brings a great left-handed bat and skills up the middle of the infield. We are so happy she has come home to Ohio.”

    The utility player spent two seasons at Central Arkansas where she played in 77 total games, while making 63 starts. The Pickerington, Ohio native has a career .224 batting average, with 37 hits, eight doubles, one triple and one home run, along with a .303 slugging percentage and 34 walks. She also has 28 career RBI and has scored 26 runs. In the field, Bare has a .897 fielding percentage, with 43 putouts, nine assists and six total errors.

    During her freshman campaign at Central Arkansas, Bare played in 47 games while making 40 starts. She recorded a .253 batting average with 25 hits, 18 runs scored, 13 RBI, five doubles and one home run. She also had a .333 slugging percentage and a .422 on base percentage with 23 walks.

    That season, Central Arkansas went 45-12 and went on to be crowned A-Sun regular season and tournament champions, while making an NCAA Tournament appearance in the Tuscaloosa Regional, where they earned a 15-0 victory over LIU. After the season, Bare earned a spot on the A-Sun All-Freshman Team.

    Last season, Bare saw action in 30 games, while making 23 starts, scoring eight runs, with three doubles, one triple and 15 RBI.

    Bare played four seasons for Pickerington Central under head coach Stephanie Peterson where she had a career .450 batting average, .573 on base percentage, .336 OPS and .763 slugging percentage and helped lead her year to the District Championship and was Regional Runner-Up in 2021.

    Bare also eared state Offensive Player of the Year honors, while also being named First Team All-Conference, First Team All-District, Third-Team All-Metro, All-State Scholar Athlete and All-State Honorable Mention.

    Bare is the daughter of Danielle Correll and Travis Bare and has one brother (Seth) and two sisters (Baylee and Peyton). Bare’s favorite team is the Cincinnati Reds and enjoys reading, cooking and lifting. Bare plans to major in criminal justice and psychology and plans to enter the field of victimology/forensic psychology after graduation.
