Shaquille O'Neal Appears to Make His Decision Between Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese

Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are currently locked in an intense battle for the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

Shaquille O'Neal has been very complimentary of both players in the past. But when it comes to this year's Rookie of the Year trophy, it appears the all-time great center has his mind made up.

Earlier this week, Shaq reposted Dawn Staley's statement dubbing Angel Reese as the frontrunner for this year's rookie award.

"If I had to pick a Rookie of the Year at this time -- today -- it's Angel," the South Carolina coach said, via TMZ Sports. "Without a doubt. What she's been able to do, the double-doubles. But listen, the season is halfway through and Caitlin [Clark] is coming."

Shaq reposted this statement on his Instagram story — seemingly agreeing with Staley's take.

Shaq, a former LSU superstar, has fostered a close relationship with Reese since her collegiate years with the Tigers. The basketball icon has served as a mentor for Reese as she begins her WNBA career.

"She's playing great. She's doing it our way. She's playing our game. She's unapologetic, which I love," Shaq said of Reese during a recent episode of The Big Podcast.

Reese and the Chicago Sky are set to face off against the Las Vegas Aces in a highly-anticipated matchup on Tuesday night.

Clark and Reese will suit up together as All-Star teammates for a matchup against Team USA on July 20.
