Fantasy Football 2024: Three Teams That Could Produce Valuable Late-Round Sleepers

The 2024 Athlon Sports Fantasy Football Preview Magazine , which is on sale now, includes a feature that breaks down the “10 things we learned in 2023.” This is an excerpt: Offensive situations with total unknowns can be quite profitable from an adp standpoint
Offensive situations with total unknowns can be quite profitable from an ADP standpoint
Two of the biggest exploitable situations in fantasy football last year came when unknown offensive coordinators took control under defensive-minded head coaches. DeMeco Ryans landed the job in Houston and brought 49ers passing game coordinator Bobby Slowik with him, while former Seahawks quarterback coach Dave Canales inherited the offensive coordinator vacancy under Todd Bowles in Tampa. Almost the entire Texans’ and Bucs’ passing games were available for cheap as both coordinators preached a run-heavy offense.
Chris Godwin and Mike Evans were both routinely available after the 50 th pick, while Nico Collins and Tank Dell were dart throws in the grand fantasy landscape. The only fantasy disappointment either team produced was running back Dameon Pierce, and he only underperformed because he wasn’t talented enough to stay on the field.
Meanwhile, Evans and Collins both finished tied for WR7 in standard scoring, averaging 12 points per game. Dell almost matched those two receivers haymaker for haymaker by averaging 10.7 standard PPG before fracturing his fibula, including posting a zero in the game in which he was injured. Godwin was a respectable PPR receiver if not someone capable of high-upside games, and C.J. Stroud and Baker Mayfield both finished as bottom-end QB1s.
Where does that trail lead us in 2024? Seattle’s weapons under new offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb — who put together a stellar NCAA offense in 2023 with Washington — sure aren’t getting any more expensive. Geno Smith was pretty reasonable last year despite an offensive line implosion, and the Seahawks could really benefit from some better play-calling.
Atlanta’s big receivers are getting a respectable ADP bump from Kirk Cousins, but it’s possible that they’re even a little light on the potential of Kyle Pitts after latest Sean McVay protégé Zac Robinson was hired to work under head coach Raheem Morris.
Nobody really wants to pump up a hype train on the Titans, but they have reasonable weapons, and Tony Pollard, DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley are each going after the 50th pick.
Are these three teams all going to be as good as the Texans and Bucs were last year? Probably not. But they’ve got a chance to produce some fantasy bargains in the middle and late rounds.
