Cowboys Reveal Roster Move On CeeDee Lamb; Bad Sign?

The Dallas Cowboys on Tuesday moved holdout receiver CeeDee Lamb to the "Reserve/Did Not Report'' list. It is only a "procedural move,'' and in that sense, it doesn't have to be taken as a "bad sign.''

But it darn sure isn't a good one.

Sources close to the situation have recently informed CowboysCountry.com that some parameters of a contract extension that would place the All-Pro Lamb among the highest-paid non-QB players in NFL history are somewhat in place.

And the Cowboys insist that it is their goal to get this done, COO Stephen Jones even conceding that Lamb is "right'' to want that gigantic payday, which figures to place him just south of the $35 million APY deal just signed in Minnesota by Justin Jefferson.

Lamb is under contract and due to make $17.9 million this year, and he is due to be getting fined for missing camp to the tune of $40,000 per day. And for a preseason-game absence, as Dallas plays the Rams this weekend? Our calculations say that'll cost Lamb $992,000 per game.

Now we're talking $4 million to make a summer-long statement.

The Cowboys say he wants to be the highest paid non-quarterback in the league. Lamb says simply, "It just has to make sense.''

Does four years and something in the range of $33.5 million APY "make sense''?

Stephen Jones says Dallas has exchanged "numerous" contract offers with Lamb's representatives.

"He's sent us deals,'' Stephen said. "We've sent him deals."

But this latest development? The only place the Cowboys are sending Lamb at this moment is ... off the 90-man roster.
