One of the most controversial figures at the Paris Olympics is Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso. The 20-year-old gained infamy after she was reportedly kicked out of the Olympic village for “inappropriate” behavior.

Alonso was booted out of the athletes’ village after the Paraguayan Olympic Committee deemed “her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay,” according to The Sun .

This is after Alonso, who also competed in the Tokyo Olympics, reportedly sneaked out of the Village to visit Paris Disneyland instead of supporting her teammates — an act that drew the ire of team officials.

Alonso, however, has not hit back at these reports, claiming they are baseless.

“I just wanted to make it clear that I was never removed or expelled from anywhere, stop spreading false information,” Alonso wrote in an Instagram post, per the New York Post .

“I don’t want to give any statement but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.”

Either way, Alonso will no longer be competing in the Olympics moving forward. This is after the polarizing swimmer announced her retirement from the sport after failing to qualify for the 100-meter butterfly semifinal on July 27.
